I want to take a minute to let you all know how grateful I am this year.
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I’m pretty sure a lot of chefs feel that way. It’s about bringing family and friends to the table to share a meal. It varies from state to state with tradition. And I personally spend hours thinking of what to add and what to delete from years past. It usually comes down to many years of the same recipes that I like to use because of the memories they bring. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the canned jellied cranberry or green bean casserole. What matters is that we all gather together and feel so special about our time with each other. We cook too much and we eat too much. We settle down on the couch watching the Macy’s Day Parade and some football. We swear it will be different next year, and it never is. And that’s what makes it perfect!
What I am particularly grateful for this year is all the new folks I have met since taking over Willis Graves. From the very first handful of customers (BTW plenty of you have already come back) and to my staff for which I am more then extremely grateful. And also to the guys who are working so hard to build our gathering room and fire pit. Grateful for Nancy and Bob, who answer my same questions over and over and never lose patience. And for the workers that they have introduced me to who continue to support this learning process.
We want to wish everyone a delicious holiday. My staff and I will be back at it again after the weekend!
